Background

If you are curious how Uncocooned began…

When I was thrust into a leadership position in 2020, I began working long hours every day, including weekends. Thinking that this would somehow get me to a point where it would get easier and I could work less. But in 2024, I felt so convicted about my life being so out of balance and not taking a sabbath. So one weekend, before heading to work, I took a moment to pray. Telling God that I would dedicate that day to Him and anything He asked me to do. But, as I quickly glanced at social media, I did not expect His answer, when I came across a post comment on Linked in about Sharing Your Story - God told me to “Write a book”.

Despite all my efforts to write a business book, it kept coming out as an autobiography memoir. And all the things God had been doing in my life made me feel like I was in a cocoon, as He disassembled, rearranged, and began to put me back together. Much like a caterpillar dissolves itself before transforming into a butterfly. And although I had lots of writing experience from my grade school and ivy league college years, was totally unprepared to write something so vulnerable and personal that delved into all the hard things in my life. So with the help of an amazing publishing company and ghost writers, the title “Uncocooned” along with the book itself came to life. Although, it is about me, in many more ways it is about you, and the encouragement it can give people to become the best version of themselves that God always intended them to be.
